College of Education
A message from the Dean.
This is a place to become a highly effective professional educator, school counselor or administrator. We are highly selective and have very strenuous admission and graduation standards. Every program that can be accredited is fully accredited and we are actively engaged in helping communities and schools get better together. Professional learning communities are helping us continuously improve. We have the highest graduation rates at the University, value diversity, and publish an outstanding online journal. Juniors at our Model Laboratory School scored 7th highest in the state on the ACT and this year we have received over $12 million dollars in external grants.
Our Communications/Language program is nationally ranked. Our doctoral program, the first one on our campus, has seventy students enrolled, and we enjoy a very positive relationship with the College of Arts and Sciences, the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kentucky Council on Post-Secondary Education, and the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board. Degree options are available in all levels of P -12 Education, Special Education - Learning Disabilities, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, and Speech/Language Pathology, Education Leadership, Mental Health and School Counseling, American Sign Language and Interpreter Education, and Library Science. Online options are available in many areas.
I invite you to explore the educational options available through the College of Education. We pride ourselves in preparing highly effective professional educators as we teach, learn and help others to teach and learn.
